Workday June 10, 2017

Thanks to all the gardeners who showed up to make the last spring workday such a success.

Bins for holding green materials were installed next to both compost set ups. Please use them to store donated materials such as pulled weeds, kitchen scraps, used coffee grounds and fresh garden refuse from your plot. These items, sometimes called ‘green’ composting materials, are all rich in nitrogen.

‘Brown’ composting materials are things like leaves, shredded paper, egg cartons and the like. These items are rich in carbon and they are always welcome. Please store them separately.

New shelves were installed in the shed and eleventy-billion weeds were whacked. We even managed to fully turn one of the active compost bins.

If you couldn’t make it to the workday there is a list of everyday odd jobs posted inside the shed.

If you did join us do make sure you get credit for your labour. Please click here to access the volunteer tracker.

Next get together: a general meeting and sharing day June 17 9:00 am to Noon.
